IOBC: Integrated Control in Protected Crops

The International Organisation for Biological Control working group ‘Integrated Control in Protected Crops, Temperate Climates’ meets at three year intervals and has become the most important forum worldwide for sharing information about biological pest control in glasshouse crops.

The last meeting, which was held in the UK (18-22 September 2011), was organised with the help of Carol Millman’s team in the AAB office. There were over 90 delegates representing 22 nations in Europe, North and South America, Australia and Asia. This covered a very wide range of complementary expertise, including researchers from universities and institutes, biocontrol producers and suppliers, as well as extension workers and IPM consultants.

There were over 40 presentations and plenty of time for lively discussions. In addition, delegates enjoyed two field trips to nurseries growing a variety of crops along the south coast of England. The abstracts from the papers are presented on the IOBC website and the full papers are published in the on-line proceedings.

Organisers: Dr Rob Jacobson, Mr Phil Walker, Ms Jude Bennison
